Luck of the Irish

This week we kicked off our crafts centered around spring and St. Patricks Day! I also tried some fun, new art techniques found on other blogs and Pinterest that ended up turning out great!

I'm loving these shape leprechaun men that we made on Monday! They've been a great addition to our art wall.

I had heard of marble painting before but I had never actually done it with the littles. Our school is participating in a St. Patricks Day parade this weekend and our float needed "kid art" so I was asked to get art from all the classes on these shamrocks! (Which, were a pain in the butt to cut out 60+) I used marble painting with one of our half day pre-k classes as well as a full day pre-k class (those littles are old enough to be in kinder next year). It was so simple and all the kids loved rolling the marbles back and forth in the box! It is definitely something to do again and would look great on eggs for April!

Another new technique: Shaving cream and paint mixture. This was also a hit with the kindergarten class. Their homeroom teacher said they couldn't stop talking about it after their art time with Ms. Faith! Which was great to hear since I'd never done it before. Again, these will be added to the float this weekend.

And finally, the sign says it all. This week we were able to enjoy 3 out of the 4 days out side this week in after care. I can hear the angels singing! The kids and I had been going stir crazy after a long, bitterly cold winter has kept us cooped up. I'm praying this warmer weather is here for good and we can make outside a regular activity!

There were parent teacher conferences today so no school for the littles and since I've been on spring break, it was a nice and relaxing day off! Has any one else have classroom leprechauns popping up? Our multiage, grades 1-3 and the kindergarten class created traps for the weekend to catch their respected leprechaun...
